LOVED the auto show this year. It runs thru April 3rd so don’t miss it if you’re in the area. So many cool new vehicles – from muscle and sports cars to SUVs and trucks that come with every luxury and amenity you can imagine. There was a lot of tech, a lot of experiential – Jeep Camp and Ford’s Future of Tough were both awesome but expect at least a 2 hour wait. Also, big fave of mine customization and classic muscle cars (two notables are Big Power Racing and AfterFX Customs). BIGGEST GRIPE: Lack of charging stations for phones. Really? You want us to snapchat and instagram but then you give us no way to recharge our phones!!
Read below for my perspective on the show:
1. Muscle Cars
Standouts for me included Trans Ams, Camaros, Dodge Challenger and Hellcat – and while most people might not put BMW in this category, I thought the BMW M4 GTS Coupe that all the guys were drooling over, had the earmarks of a muscle car.
2. Sports Cars
From the super sexy Ford GT500 to the 2017 Nissan GT-R, sports cars made a big impression.
3. Super Sleek Luxury
Two of the most outstanding were concept cars: the Buick Avista and the New York concept from Hyundai’s new luxury brand Genesis.
4. Family- friendly
The stroller set was primarily down on the basement level and they were super excited about both the SUV’s and the trucks. Lots of families out on Saturday and it looked like they were doing some serious shopping.
5. American Brands making a comeback
Ford, Jeep and Dodge were all on fire.
6. But Toyota Trucks Are Flying American Colors
Touting that they are made in America, made in Texas etc.
7. Electric Cars
Elio Motors and Arcimoto were standouts. Also saw crowds at the Prius and around the Nissan Leaf.
8. Two colors that really popped: Orange and Duck Egg Blue
9. Customization/ Power Racing/ Vintage Racing and Muscle Cars
10. Sexy Doors: Gullwing
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WE NEED SO MANY MORE OF THESE!! Can you believe Javits doesn’t even have electrical outlets to use for your own chargers. Huge frustration and disappointment.
