I’ve known Judith for at least 20 years – as an artist, a neighbor, a reality TV star (Bravo’s Work Of Art, first season 2010), a cancer survivor. Judy is an inspiration to anyone wondering how they can create fulfilling 2nd or 3rd chapters in their lives. Not only has she, in her 60’s, re-created an enormously important art career, she is absolutely thriving.
Most recently, Judy has been doing large on-site finger-painting murals that are just drop-dead gorgeous. The most recent one was for Bloomberg Philanthropies. I’ve included images of some of her other murals below the break. She is represented by Joe Sheftel Gallery on the Lower East Side and will have her next one-woman show at his gallery in October 2015.
Judy also did a design residency at Burton Snowboards in 2013 for their Feelgood Series. It was not until the Sochi Olympics women’s snowboarding event that she realized her design had been selected by US Bronze Medalist Kelly Clark. Her snowboards are now in stores and have been in the window at the Burton Store in Soho since this past fall.
Read on below the break for Judy’s sources of inspiration (super interesting!!) as well as some of her favorite spots in the neighborhood. Also links here to her website and here for her “My Five Minute Life” youtube video.
