8 in 10 Americans celebrate Easter, spending $17.3 billion

Wow! Blown away by these figures. Easter shopping is at a 13-year high with the average consumer spending $146 per person. They’ll spend $5.5 billion on food, $3 billion on clothing, $2.7 billion on gifts, $2.4 billion on candy and $1.2 billion on flowers.

They celebrate Easter in a number or different ways: over half visit family and friends, cook a holiday meal and go to church. Almost a third plan an Easter egg hunt.

They’re primarily shopping at discount and department stores. About 1 in 5 shop online.
