HGTV continues to be a top influencer when it comes to home design in the United States. And although I am not watching as frequently as before, I still see them as having their finger on the pulse of mainstream American tastes above and beyond all others.
- As a result, I was extremely happy to find a great trend piece online from Nancy Fire. She’s HGTV’s design director as well as the founder/creative director of Design Works International.
- She recently returned from a European scouting trip to Lisbon, Madrid and Paris specifically tracking trends that would inspire the HGTV audience when it comes to their 2018 home makeovers.
Topping her list of trends is “Artisan Aesthetic.” She’s largely inspired by colorful handmade tiles in blues and greens and ancient pink (as opposed to millennial pink!). In Paris, she was particularly drawn to beautiful black and white designs across multiple categories from tiles to linens to furnishings.
