Have been going to PT for about 6 weeks and the improvement in my leg muscles and joints is absolutely remarkable. I have a touch of early onset arthritis and apparently it makes the surrounding muscles super tight. And FYI, arthritis, which typically first shows up at around age 45, is becoming increasingly common even among 30 year olds – and a big reason is that we’re all overweight. So losing 10lbs is also on my agenda!!
I will be seeing my wonderful physical therapist, Wing, at Promobility once or twice a week until the end of June but I will continue to do an array of stretching and strengthening exercises for 40 minutes a day for the foreseeable future.
If any of my friends in the NYC-area are looking for a great physical therapist, I cannot recommend Wing highly enough (pic above, as she humors my snapchat obsession!).
Read on below for several other important health and nutrition trends!!!
- Maintaining a healthy body weight (with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9)
- Getting at least 7 hours of sleep
- Exercising (150 minutes of moderate exercise, or 75 minutes of intense exercise weekly)
- Drinking in moderation or not at all (2 drinks/day for men, 1 drink for women!!)
- Not smoking.
Just 6% of adults in the U.S. have adopted all five health habits. 35% of adults engage in three and 24% engage in four of these behaviors (I’m only doing 3: exercising, sleeping and not smoking, MUST lose that 10lbs!).
