Love this new breed of hotel (aimed at millennials) because of what they provide for travelers of all ages: super fast, free Wi-Fi, cool gathering spots and plenty of power outlets and USB ports. Without a doubt, my favorite spot, the Standard Hollywood was the original Millennial hotel (well, without the outlets!).
Hotel giants, including Marriott and Hilton, are launching millennial brands including Moxy, AC, Edition, CitizenM and Canopy. Richard Branson is also getting in on the trend with his Virgin Hotels – first one just opened in Chicago.
If you’re planning to stay at one of these new millennial hotels (and I highly recommend you do!!), here’s what you can anticipate:
Rooms one-third smaller than traditional rooms
Ikea-style contemporary furniture
Spacious gathering areas with communal tables, couches and comfy chairs instead of business centers
“They center around social media and technology with an emphasis on style and design,” said Tina Edmundson, Marriott’s global officer for luxury and lifestyle brands.
