Food Halls: have they jumped the shark?

Downtown LA’s Grand Central Market

As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of food halls. My favorites include NYC’s Plaza Food Hall and LA’s Grand Central Market (above).

But there are now at least four major food halls under development in NYC: Anthony Bourdain’s 100,000 sf International Food Market at the SuperPier which will include a farmers market, hawker-style street food stalls, a 1,500-square-foot oyster bar, a bakery, butchers, a tapas bar, a tea shop, a pastry shop, and an outdoor Asian-themed beer garden; Danny Meyer’s 40,000 sf food hall at Hudson Yards; Eataly FiDi is opening later this year at 4 WTC,  and a new Nordic market is scheduled for Grand Central Station from a co-founder of Noma.

Seriously, even for this super fan, this is too much!
