Have spent hundreds of dollars on coffee machines and coffee pods over the last few months but as soon as I use the last of my Keurig pods, I am back to Lavazza and my French Press.
- Inexplicably, my Nespresso coffee does not taste as delicious as it did when I had it at my friends’ house in Atlanta. Same coffee maker, same coffee pods – maybe it’s the water? But NYC is supposed to have the best water in the country.
- COST! My Lavazza is 25 cents a cup and I have 2 each morning which amounts to $3.50 per week or $182 per year. Nespresso pods, on the other hand, are $1.20 each or $2.40 per day $870 per year –almost four times as expensive. Frugal Irma is back!!
- Finally, and this would be less of an issue if the coffee were amazing, but I consider this pod system incredibly wasteful. I know they have a recycling program but it’s still a hassle.
So there you have it. Reverting to my tried and true – unless, or until, somebody recommends a coffee style for either Keurig or Nespresso that is as complex and delicious as the Lavazza.
