I want everyone to get a flu shot: CDC predicts a really bad season!!

Just got my flu shot and I can’t believe how many people think it gives you the flu.  I started getting my annual shot about 20 years ago when I got the flu while traveling and was down for the count while on a business trip. I have not had the flu – or even a bad cold – since I started getting the flu shots and that’s pretty amazing.

You can just drop by your local drug store but please get it before October is over – it takes two weeks for your body to build up immunity.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, early tests point to a better match between circulating viruses and those found in the vaccine, making this year’s shot potentially more effective than last year’s.

“The 2015-2016 #flu vaccine includes updated H3N2 and influenza B virus components,” tweeted CDC director Tom Frieden, citing two strains of the virus that sickened many last season, even those who were immunized. The CDC estimates that last year’s vaccine was only about 19% effective.
