Kitchen redesign goes high-tech with HoloLens demos at Lowe’s

This is pretty awesome for someone like me who has a tough time envisioning exactly how a remodel will look.  This partnership between Microsoft’s HoloLens and Lowe’s launches March 30th at one test store in Lynnwood, WA. If this pilot program goes well, they’ll expand to other cities, including Raleigh NC, where Lowe’s has its HQ.

It’s still very beta but I have high hopes this will be phenomenally successful. If you’ve ever ordered appliances or  furniture that ultimately didn’t work aesthetically or size-wise, you know what I’m talking about. You either keep the item and are never happy with it or you arrange to schlep it back to the store!! This solves those problems.

According to Microsoft, the holographic images will be high enough quality to see how reflective or matte different components are. After designing the kitchen, you’ll be able to order the items immediately but you’re also be able to share the designs online, so you can go home and keep thinking about the design elements.
