Pirch for Kitchen, Bath, Outdoors: Retail at its most glorious!!

Have been waiting for this showroom to open. It is unbelievably opulent and gorgeous with a huge staff including chefs and baristas manning the free coffee bar. Definitely dials up the retail experience. At the same time, very hard to see how they can sustain this – the overhead must be ginormous. Today, 2 days after opening, it was relatively busy and the customers looked like they were indeed serious shoppers. Keeping my fingers crossed that their customers are not just show-rooming. They did make a point of telling me that several of the appliances are made specifically for Pirch and not available elsewhere.

Pirch currently has 8 stores in cities like Atlanta, Palm Springs, Paramus and Chicago. They remind me somewhat of Restoration Hardware – but way more gorgeous and professionally-staffed.

The company was founded by James Stuart, a retired real estate developer, in 2009 in San Diego as Fixtures Living. The name was changed to Pirch in 2013.

NYC store is at 200 Lafayette Street (corner of Broome) in Soho.
