Found a beer I LOVE: Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen

Had grapefruit beer for the first time this weekend at the Coney Island Art Walls installation. It’s a big hit with Brooklynites. My friend, Michelle, was familiar with it from Greenwood Park, the beer garden by her house. All the vendors at the art walls installation were serving it and it was amazing!! So refreshing and unlike anything I had tasted before – not beery and not sweet and nothing at all like malt beverages from the past like Zima.

Having grown up in a German family where radlers and shandies were the drink of choice in the summertime, I was familiar with the concept but have NEVER had one that tasted like this. I am not a beer aficionado so take this with a grain of salt. But the Schofferhofer Grapefruit could absolutely turn me into a summertime beer drinker.  Note: They were also serving a blueberry beer but that did not pass muster – pretty terrible actually.
