Apple is reportedly testing technology that could see Siri receive voicemail, transcribe the message to text, then send it to the voicemail recipient in a text message. Really genius because people do still like to leave voicemails but nobody likes to receive them.
The Verge reports that the new service is called iCloud Voicemail and is slated for a launch sometime in 2016.
Android users have had Google Voice transcribing their messages for years (badly!). However, recently Google announced it has reduced errors by 49 percent. Perhaps Google knew that Apple was trying to get Siri to transcribe voicemails and decided it needed to up its game.
